🌟 Studio39 (School Year 2025–26)

Welcome to Studio39!

Studio39 brings theatre to D39C as part of the school's enrichment program.
It is a dynamic performing arts program where students explore the magic of theatre, storytelling, and stagecraft. The program nurtures creativity, confidence, and teamwork, giving kids hands-on experience both on stage—developing acting, voice, and character skills—and behind the scenes—learning about props, costumes, lighting, and production. Each session helps students express themselves, collaborate with peers, and gain valuable life skills, all while having fun and preparing for an exciting final performance.

Enrollment Details
Fee: $100 per student (Covers T-shirts, program expenses, and the end-of-year event.)

Tentative Daily Schedule (Regular Meets)
• 3:15 pm – Arrival at Showcase
• 3:15–3:40 pm – Attendance / Snack / Bathroom
• 3:40–4:40 pm – Session 1
• 4:40–4:50 pm – Break
• 4:50–5:50 pm – Session 2
• 5:50–6:00 pm – Pack up & prepare to go home
• 6:00 pm – Dismissal

Studio39 Focus Areas

1. Script Writing & Storytelling ✍️
- Story structure: beginning, conflict, climax, resolution
- Script writing and dialogue creation
- Character development and motivations
- Theme and end goal
- Engaging the audience until the very end

2. On-Stage Performers 🎭
- Stage presence and confidence
- Voice: projection, clarity, diction, modulation
- Timing, rhythm, and cues
- Dialogue delivery and emotional range
- Expressions and body language
- Improvisation skills
- Partner/group work: listening, reacting, building chemistry
- Using stage space effectively

3. Backstage Crew 🛠️
- Direction and production basics
- Stage management: cue sheets, rehearsals, calling the show
- Props, costumes, makeup, set logistics
- Technical elements: lighting, music, sound effects, voiceovers
- Safety protocols for quick changes and set transitions
- Supporting performers while remaining behind the scenes

4. Additional Elements
- Rehearsal discipline: focus, time management, teamwork
- Collaboration between performers and crew
- Audience interaction and engagement (when appropriate)
- Post-performance reflection and feedback for growth

Parent Volunteers 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
Students will work in teams, and each team requires at least one parent volunteer to help guide students and keep them on track.

Important: All parent volunteers must have Level 2 clearance to participate.
